Final Project - Portion of Anger

TADAAAAA Like Finally we are done with our Final Project!

It's a story about Huderman had a lot of assignment incomplete which made him stressed out and he had friendship problem at the same time.In this game, Huderman who needs to try to do many solutions to make him manage his anger between his assignments and social life.

In this blog, I'm going to show you the screenshots of our process while making this game.

Let's start with the setting pages before introducing the games scene!

So, after the settings page , now we move on to the games scene.

Every scene will be continue with 2 option, choose wisely !

*FYI* I didn't include all the details or event in this blog as I hope people who play this game would have explore themselves.

STARTING PAGE

 

STARTING INSTRUCTION

After entering the new game, player will get the instruction automatically

*It's an autorun setting*

Remember to go around and explore!!

And after the instruction, the game start!

 

Arguing with friends

This is the first scene that player will be in, this scene explained why Huderman is pissed and what problem he faced.

FOOD STALL

At the food stall , Huderman need to go around and explore . Small little hints! Player might approach the animals in the scene! Have fun😁

LIBRARY

In the library, Huderman will finish his assignment . Explore the surrounding to find the exit after approach all the people in Library

ROOFTOP

Huderman went to rooftop and shout to release his temper and stress but it end up make it more worst.

SHOPPING

Huderman went to shopping. He realised that shopping and buying goods did help to reduce his anger. But he met Bobby there and Bobby ruined his mood again.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Huderman try to express his feeling in social media hoping to reduce his anger which is what people often do nowadays but it turnout not a good way for him.

SLEEP

Huderman decided get a nap to see whether it help to make him less tense

Lack of sleep might let a person get on temper more easily

and it does help Huderman , he feel fresh and energized after he woke up.

DRIVE

Huderman drive fast and didn't noticing a car coming fast behind when he suddenly change his lane and finally lead to crash.

Driving is the only scene which lead to Game Over.

 

MEDITATION

Huderman went to Meditation centre and in meditation centre there is a lot of activity and ways to help people to distress and handle their anger.

Huderman finally found that meditation helped him to handle his emotion the most.

which means meditation is the best way to handle anger. Inner peace is the most useful way!

Meditation is the last game scene and after completing approaching everyone in meditation centre player could walk to the exit and the game will end!

 

ENDING

There is two ending for this game which is the selection of the wrong ways which lead to

Game Over. It will appear like this and with a sad funeral-like BGM

The Good Ending. It also come with the conclusion of the game.

 

LIMITATIONS

*Difficulty we faced

FIRST ofcourse is what to choose as our topic as we need to have an outcome which relate to our research. And after we decided our topic, we still have to decided to either create a video or making a game, we had struggled from choosing which to do as we have no experience in making game and it will be harder than making a video for us but we really want to make game but we worried about the dateline and worried that can we finish in time if we choose to make a game.But at last we still have courage and motivate each other that we could finish this and we accept the challenge that we chosen for ourselves.

Another difficulty we faced is that, This is my first time making an interactive game with a game software, it's not easy, me and my partner did face a lot of difficulty in the pass few week . Firstly, we had problem choosing which game software to be use to create our game. We had downloaded and tried on a few game software such as

-Game maker

-Stencyl

-sploder

-unreal engine

-unity

-cocos2dx

-ogre

-amazon lumberyard

but it's either too difficult for us to use or the game engine is too advance which require coding to programme it out.

while some which is more handy such as sploder couldn't carry out our storyline.

and finally we decided to use rpg maker mv. but still we faced difficulty to download it. we find a lot of way to get the full version instead of the trial version. finally my partner andrea get a way to download the cracked full version without trial or any payment needed while my Macbook couldn't get it. so we worked on andrea's laptop.

*sorry for not buying a real version but we are student and real version is way too expensive to buy it as we are not in game design or game industry we are not using it in long term*

even after we get to download the full version but with 0 experience in making an interactive game, we still couldn't get the way to set it up.after exploring the software and we started to get used with the software.

 

BENEFITs OF GAME

There is a few benefit people can gain from playing this game

TO TEST A PERSON ANGER LEVEL

By playing this game, some part of the game required player to find their way out such as the road might be blocked by some object, animal or even other character. For example, in the food stall scene, there is a lot of obstacle blocking Huderman from passing through, the exits of the library to the next scene have no clue, the roof top seems like impossible to cross to the left side. All this are made to test the anger of player too as this can irritate the player when they can't find a way out.

LEARN TO MANAGE THEIR ANGER

As player playing the game, it's actually like they are putting themselves into Huderman character as every scene is actually related to real life scene. Also the option is related to what people will normally do in real life. By playing the game, they could realise how easily they can be mad or triggered because of couldn't find a way out or feel Huderman words as all the sentences and vocabulary, me and Andrea make it as reality as possible. And when they are making choice for Huderman is also represent it is the way that they will choose in real life. They will know that there is another option beside their own option which might be the better way for them to handle their angle.

IDENTIFY THE WRONG WAY HANDLING ANGER / VISUALISE THE IMPACT OF CHOOSING THE WRONG WAY OF HANDLING THE ANGER

In the game, when the player choose the wrong way of handling the anger, it's an immediate and obvious impact shown by the character. For illustration, when Huderman shout at the rooftop to release his anger he get shout back from the people downstairs which make him feel more worst, when Huderman scold in social media, the reply make him more angry and the most worst is when he choose to drive fast, it even put his life in danger. All this is to illustrate the wrong way of handling emotion can lead to more worst situation. Also the player can identify that it's the wrong way of handling option just by seeing the impact themselves without saying that it's the wrong option.

 

FEEDBACK

From Mr. Charles

Our lecturer said that he can get what we want to express from the game.He could clearly understand the storyline and how this game can relate to our daily lives in managing our anger. Mr Charles did get irritated when he couldn't find the exits or when he choose the wrong choice. On the other hand, he commented that it would be better if we made more choices to choose for more confusion in the game. But most importantly, he told us that we did a good work and he can see that we put in a lot of effort in this.

From some friends

I let some of my friend to test play the game to see how they go in this game and apparently a lot of people will choose to scold in social media. And they also feel irritated when they can't find the exits and they also feel shocked that the option drive fast lead to game over.

[ I hope that this would bear in their mind that never do this when they're in an anger]

 

FUTURE POSSIBILITY

I think that this game is potential to future develop to let people understand people in a more direct way without talk. In my eyes, this game can be use in Quite a lot of field especially in design and business. it can be in the part of interview or when dealing with client. We can design the game in a few aspect, such as to test anger, to test what a person prefer, to test what a person have more strength in and etc. The outcome of what the client or interviewer choose in the game can bring out a statistic to interpret on the person personality or mindset, this can let the company to identify whether is this interviewer reach their expectation or requirement. And for design or industry field, this can be used to let designer or company to know more clearly what the client want, so we can work more efficiently and produce a better outcome.

 

Thoughts

it was a really really great experiences for me and andrea to have an opportunity to make this game! it's fun and I will never remember how excited we are whenever we found how to setting for a function. although it's not a big production but we are satisfied with the outcome. we really learned something that we never expected! satisfaction that I gained from this assignment is really priceless!

I'm also very thankful that our lecturer mr charles by giving advices and helping us in finding way to get game software.
