Unconventional Self Portraits

This assignment mostly emphasis on drawing , creating different combination and different interesting angle .

PART ONE : GRAPHITE SKETCHES

I'm quite weak on drawing , lots of effort need to put in to improve my drawing skill .

PART TWO : EXPLORATION

Exploration had been divided into two part :

1. Exploration using different materials

2. Collage exploration

Exploration using different materials

1. Ink and cartridges paper

2. Ink and Pure wood sheet

3. Ink and craft paper

4. Ink and Newsprint paper

5. Ink and Rice Paper

6. Crayon and Tracing paper

After the exploration I found that Newsprint paper and Craft paper can take up ink more well, making the drawing going more nicely and smoothly ,Pure wood sheet have rough surface which causes that not easy to create a smooth line on it and the ink will spread horizontally or vertically following the mark of the wood, Rice paper are not a good medium to use for ink drawing as it absorb ink too fast and too much its very hard to control and lastly the Tracing paper are not applicable for ink , so I tried out with crayon and its quite easy to draw with crayon, the only problem is just the crayon wouldn't stay well if I did not apply any fixation medium, so I apply hair spray and the crayon stay on the tracing paper nicely. I like this part of the assignment very much , it make me understand the characteristics about each materials and medium more .
